This ring is hand crafted with reclaimed teak wood from the Deck of the USS California BB 44 historic battleship sunk during Pearl Harbor Attack Dec. 7, 1941. She was sunk on Battleship Row and then re-floated and repaired getting back into battle in 1944. The ship was built in Vallejo, California at Mare Island in 1920. She became the Pacific Fleet Flagship from 1921 to 1941. Commissioned August 1921
This teak is Burmese and was milled in the late 1800's. It is over 120 years old and cannot be replicated. This teak was specifically milled for US and British battleships. When Japan took over Burma during World War II the supply was cut off. The ship was salvaged in 1959 in Baltimore by Bethlehem Shipbuilders the company that scrapped the ship. Thankfully some of the wood was saved so we can make this ring. Our supplier purchased this deck from the original purchaser about ten years ago, he also happens to be a huge ww2 history buff, his mom and dad were both in the navy in WWII.
The value of the wood is very high because of the historic value and the rarity of the teak itself. Each piece is one of a kind and the teak has its own grain characteristics, wear from use and burn marks from battle, repair and salvage. Some pieces have plugs where deck was bolted to hull. Finished with proper materials.

Yes, with 25 character limit including spaces, engraving is hand written by our master jeweler. It takes about 2 weeks to be completed. It can be purchased at this link, after you submit your order. Keep in mind that when a item is engraved it is a final sale, so if your not sure on your size and want to use our risk free size exchange policy, you can always take your ring to a local trophy shop or jeweler to be engraved after you receive your ring.
All our gold and wood inlay rings are water-resistant, wood inlay rings by use of a durable water-resistant coating but not waterproof, as you will find with all wood inlay rings. Hand washing is just fine but these are not meant to to be worn in the shower or swimming in the ocean, you can use your free silicone ring we provide for these activities. But don't worry if you purchase our care-plan it will even cover any water damage that may occur, just in case you decide to jump into that pool at the party with your ring on.

All of our wood is sourced from reclaimed sources or sustainably harvested wood. Much of the wood was being used for scrap or in the process of being destroyed. For us, saving the wood to use in our rings is our small way of preserving our precious history.
